The Emerald Publishing invites authors based at African or Middle Eastern higher education institutions, including Türkiye and Pakistan, to submit business teaching cases focused on emerging markets in their region.
The aim of the competition is to encourage and promote the development of high-quality teaching case material relevant to the realities of dynamic and emerging economies in Africa, the Middle East, Türkiye, and Pakistan. At the same time, they also seek to promote the development of case-writing capabilities with those same regions.
Emerald is pleased to partner with the El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center at the American University in Cairo to deliver this competition.
Award and Publication
- The total prize pool is worth $2,000, including $1,000 to the winner and $500 each to two runners up!
- Please note that the prize will only be payable to the winning submissions if those submissions are successfully published. The decision to publish submissions will be made at the discretion and there may be occasions where they cannot publish a winning submission because of issues that arise during peer review or the revisions process.
- Non-winning submissions will also be considered for publication and they will be in touch with you should they wish to take your non-winning submission forward for publication in the Scopus-indexed Emerging Market Case Studies (EMCS) collection.
Author Guidelines
- Your Teaching Case Study should:
- Describe the actions of a well-developed central protagonist character that is facing a management decision.
- Present a complex and compelling management decision-making dilemma for students to analyse.
- Be logically structured, with sufficient discussion of important business contexts and issues.
- Be written in the past tense, use an engaging case narrative style, and does not contain any language errors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Your case should:
- Have a developing and emerging markets focus from Africa, the Middle East, Türkiye, or Pakistan.
- Be written by authors based at higher education institutions in these same countries.
- Be based on a real situation in a real company.
- Be a teaching case, they cannot accept academic (research) cases.
- Not have been published before in its current or substantially similar form or be under consideration for publication in any ISSN/ ISBN-registered publication or with any other case centre.
- Meet the standard EMCS author guidelines.
