JAC Trust is offering grants to support displaced people and their host communities to increase their resilience to the climate crisis by funding initiatives that will have a positive impact on their quality of life and on the natural environment.

Funding Information

  • Grants of up to £75,000 are available.
  • Funds should be used within 18 to 36 months.

Funding Criteria

  • Their objective is to increase the climate resilience of forcibly displaced people and their host communities. They do this by funding initiatives that strengthen livelihoods, reduce vulnerabilities and contribute to environmental recovery and protection.
  • They fund initiatives that aim to deliver win-win outcomes for people and planet. All proposals must fulfil all three of the following criteria to be eligible for funding:
    • Deliver tangible improvements in the quality of life of displaced people and their hosts,
    • Have a positive impact on the natural environment (protection or restoration).
    • Foster positive engagement between displaced people and the community that hosts them.
  • Please note that they do not fund projects that are primarily focused on WASH, irrigation or education.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Their preference is to fund well-run, smaller organisations that are embedded in the communities they serve. They fund:
    • Registered non-profit organisations (NGOs, charities, social enterprises) with a website.
    • Organisations with a minimum annual income of £25,000 and a maximum income of £5 million.

Ineligible

  • Individuals
  • Emergency Relief
  • The promotion of religious causes
  • Core costs alone (but they are happy to pay an appropriate share of core costs)
  • Academic research
  • Peace building in active conflict settings
  • Projects primarily focused on WASH, irrigation or education.
  • Work in the UK
  • Please note, their working language is English and they will only consider applications written in English.
