Are you currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree and engaged in compelling research within the field of bioenergy? If so, the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) invites you to participate in the GBEP Youth Award 2024!

The GBEP Youth Award, an integral component of the annual GBEP Bioenergy Weeks, serves as a gateway for youth involvement in GBEP activities, and aims to engage young minds and recognize their research on social, economic and environmental aspects of bioenergy.

The GBEP Youth Award aims to recognize and promote outstanding research conducted by students in the field of bioenergy, covering various aspects such as environmental, social, and economic sustainability, circular bioeconomy, technologies, supply chain and logistics, societal practices, policy and strategies, and climate change.

This year, successful candidates will have the opportunity to present their research and receive their award certificate during a special session at the first ever GBEP-YUNGA Bioenergy Youth Day, scheduled to take place during the 11th GBEP Bioenergy Week at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy on 17 June 2024. Additionally, awardees will be given the chance to present their work at other relevant international events organized or co-organized by GBEP throughout 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should be studying at a recognized research institution (i.e., matriculated students at the time of entry).
  • Candidates should be within the age limit (at time of application) of 30 years old for bachelor and master students, and 35 years old for PhD students.
  • Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
    • Validity of results
    • Quality and clarity in the presentation of ideas
    • Degree of innovation      
    • Relevance to the external scientific/development community
