The Shanghai International Film Festival has launched a global call for films, including the Golden Goblet Award main competition, Asian newcomers, documentaries, cartoons, short films, and international film screenings.

Filmmakers from all over the world are welcome to gather in Shanghai next June to experience the charm of light and shadow and deepen interconnection.

Criteria

  • Golden Goblet Award Main Competition Unit
    • If the production is completed after June 1, 2023, priority will be given to world premiere and international premiere films. Chinese films must be world premieres;
    • Films that have not participated in or exhibited in other non-specialized competitive international film festivals certified by the International Film Producers Association (except for films screened for marketing and publicity purposes, which shall be subject to the official journal); The film is released in a country or region other than the country where it was primarily produced;
    • The length of the film shall not be less than 70 minutes;
    • Projection medium: DCP.
  • Golden Goblet Award Asian Newcomer Unit
    • To participate in the selection of the best film in the Asian Newcomer category of the Golden Goblet Award, the director must have made the first two feature films and the director must have the nationality of an Asian country or be of Asian descent;
    • To participate in the selection of the Best Director in the Asian Newcomer category of the Golden Goblet Award, the director must have made the director’s first two feature films and the director must have the nationality of an Asian country;
    • To participate in the selection of the Best Actor and Actress in the Golden Goblet Award Asian Newcomer Section, the actor must have played the leading role in feature films twice (including twice), and the actor must be an actor or actress with Asian nationality;
    • The films applied for participation must be produced after June 1, 2023;
    • The length of the film shall not be less than 70 minutes;
    • Projection medium: DCP
  • Golden Goblet Award Documentary Unit
    • The production is completed after June 1, 2023 , priority will be given to world premiere and international premiere films. Chinese films must be world premieres;
    • Films that have not participated in any non-specialized competitive international film festivals certified by other International Film Producers Associations;
    • The length of the film shall not be less than 70 minutes;
    • Projection medium: DCP.
  • Golden Goblet Award Cartoon Unit
    • If the production is completed after June 1, 2023, priority will be given to world premiere and international premiere films. Chinese films must be world premieres;
    • Films that have not participated in any non-specialized competitive international film festivals certified by other International Film Producers Associations;
    • The length of the film shall not be less than 60 minutes;
    • Projection medium: DCP.
  • Golden Goblet Award Short Film Unit
    • Live – action short films and animated short films produced after June 1, 2023;
    • The length of the film, including the opening and closing credits, shall not exceed 40 minutes;
    • Films that have not participated in any non-specialized competitive international film festivals certified by other International Film Producers Associations;
    • Priority will be given to world premiere and international premiere films, and Chinese films must be world premieres.
  • International film screening unit
    • Except for special film festivals, films are generally produced after January 1,2023;
    • The length of the film shall not be less than 70 minutes;
    • Projection medium: DCP.
